Steps to Marry in TDC
Your Loved One's first step is to submit an I60 to the Law Library to get a copy of their TDCJ ID card. This is the longest process and can take up to two months.
Your first step is to hire an officiant to help guide you through the process of saying I DO. Texas Prison Weddings officiants are TDCJ approved and available to help make that special Moment Memorable for you and your one true love.
If you retain a Texas Prison Weddings officiant, we will be there for you every step of the way. From the contract to the "I Do"... and beyond.
You should send your Loved One 2 copies of the Affidavit of Absent Applicant from the county that you will get the license from. We suggest two copies in case your Loved One or the Notary mess up as there can be NO errors or scratch outs.
TDCJ Process to a Date (3-6 weeks)
- LAW LIBRARY will verify your status and confirm the Officiant is approved by Access to Court
- INMATE RECORDS will verify that your Loved One is over 18 and on your visit list
- WARDEN will review this information for final approval or denial
- CHAPLAIN will schedule the date with you, your Loved One or the Officiant
